Title: Using GIS to Determine Wildland Fire Hazard Areas
Abstract: The Oregon Department of Forestry created a set of rules for local agencies to use in designating Wildland Fire Hazard Areas in 1996, but with the rules written for analog methods. This project was the first attempt to use GIS for this and was started in 1997, using ArcView 3.x and Spatial Analyst 2. In this presentation I will revisit the project, concentrating on concepts, problems, and issues and how to solve these problems, and hopefully showing a few tricks along the way.
